The tour will walk us through from the XVIIth to the XXIst centuries in two hours, walking neighbourhood streets, meeting citizens, discovering houses, climbing down to the water stream and going up on a factory terrace for an amazing panorama. We will take a stop at the Apostol Tabaci Church, where we will listen to priest Marin Sârbu tell us about the neighbourhood’s life in the time of Dumitru Mociorniţă, one of the industry people who endowed the church, and how he managed to save it from demolition in 1989. After that we will take a stroll to the Events Gallery at Doamna Chiajna 26, where we’ll find out about the former distillery, about the Queen Maria chocolate shop, about the water stream (that we will be able to see!) and about the mineral waters from the early XXth century. We’ll also learn about an old documents library from the neighbourhood and the current cultural centre’s activities.

From here we’ll go to the Flaros SA factory, a former tannery and Mociorniţa’s factory in the ’20s, currently a creative industry centre, we’ll admire the panorama from it’s terrace and follow the road across the Dâmboviţa river to the Ceainăria cu cărţi teahouse, where we’ll meet Denissa Voicu, initiator of the project and neighbourhood citizen. We’ll cross Dâmboviţa and reach the Calup platform, where we’ll take a tour of this creativity hive, lead by the teams behind La firul ierbii and Nod Makerspace, we’ll learn more about the Cotton Industry Central the place hosted in communist times, as well as about the fascinating projects it leads today, among which eematico – a new concept for education. Our last stop, the Dimitrie Cantemir Christian University will unveil more histories of academics and students, as well as what used to be here before.
